All the MBA candidates I have met at Emory are the people you will want to know early on in your career. They are all hungry professionals who have attributes you will want to inherit. They have been in your shoes and now they have the opportunity to do it again with you but guide you to be even better than they were. My advice to someone thinking about getting a mentor is don’t think about it and get one.

Leveraging our skills and experiences to empower and support the next wave of future black business leaders.

Launched in Fall 2020, the BMBAA Mentorship Program at Goizueta is a unique year-long, one-on-one mentoring program that pairs MBA students with undergraduate students at Morehouse College, Spelman College, and Clark Atlanta University.

The BMBAA Mentorship Program aims to support the personal and professional development of the mentees. Mentors act to support and empower their mentees to further discover their passions and provide guidance on obtaining internships, jobs, graduate school admissions, and post-graduation career opportunities.

This award is offered in memory of Robert Gooden, former VP of Alumni & Corporate Relations of the Goizueta Black MBA Association, whose life was cut tragically short in January 2021. BMBAA wanted to honor Rob, his outstanding work, and his passion for mentorship by naming an award after him.

The BMBAA Robert Gooden Memorial Award will be given to a mentee participant of the BMBAA Mentor Program who has demonstrated a clear commitment to the program, their development, and leadership in their community. All applicants must answer the essay prompt below.

DEADLINE: Applications will be accepted until Friday, April 30 at 11:59 PM ET.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA: Undergrad participant of the BMBAA Mentorship Program (mentee)

AWARD AMOUNT: BMBAA will issue one $500.00 award, non-renewable.

If you have any questions about the application, please email Kristen Little - kristen.amelia.little@emory.edu

My experience with my mentor (Nikki Moorer) has been nothing but amazing! She has sharpened my interview skills immensely and improved my resume greatly as well. I am much more confident in situations involving my career, and that is all thanks to her. I also have gained a new friend in the process.
